Israel-Iran Conflict Live Updates: Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel in an unprecedented attack late Saturday, the Israeli army announced, in a major escalation of the long-running covert war between the regional foes.

Israeli military spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said that 99 percent of the launches had been intercepted.

While 170 drones and 30 cruise missiles were shot down before they reached Israel, a few of the 110 ballistic missiles did get through, injuring 12 people.

Iran had repeatedly threatened to retaliate against Israel for a deadly April 1 air strike on its consulate building in Damascus.

Iran Airports Cancel Flights Until Monday Amid Tensions With Israel

Several Iranian airports including Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International have cancelled flights until Monday, Iranian state media reported today.

“All flights from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport have been cancelled until 6 a.m. (0230 GMT) following an announcement by Iran’s Civil Aviation Organisation,” the airport’s executive told the Iranian Student News Agency.

Domestic flights from Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport and airports in Shiraz, Isfahan, Bushehr, Kerman, Ilam, and Sanandaj have also been cancelled until Monday morning, according to Iran’s Airports and Air Navigation Company.

Major airlines across the Middle East have announced the cancellation of some of their flights, while having to reroute others as tensions flared in the Middle East with Iran’s attack on Israel.

“Dangerous Escalation”: Russia Urges “Restraint” As Iran Attacks Israel

Russia today urged all sides to “show restraint” after Iran launched an unprecedented attack on Israel.

“We are counting on the regional states to solve the existing problems with political and diplomatic means,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Moscow expressed “extreme concern over the latest dangerous escalation in the region”.

It also said it had warned numerous times that “the lack of resolution to numerous crises in the Middle East, primarily in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict” would “lead to growth in instability”.

“Overnight Escalation”: NATO Condemns Iran’s Attack On Israel

NATO today condemned Iran’s overnight attack on Israel as “escalation” of regional unrest and urged restraint on all sides.

“We condemn Iran’s overnight escalation, call for restraint, and are monitoring developments closely. It is vital that the conflict in the Middle East does not spiral out of control,” spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah said.

G7 Leaders To Discuss Iranian Strikes On Israel

Leaders from the G7 will hold a video conference later Sunday to discuss the Iranian strikes on Israel, Italy — which holds the rotating presidency of the group of developed nations — said.

“The Italian presidency of the G7 has summoned G7 leaders for a video conference early this afternoon”, the government said. The G7 groups the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Britain, Italy and Canada.

Iran Launched Over 300 Drones, Missiles: Israel

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles towards Israel in its unprecedented attack overnight, injuring at least 12 people, an Israeli army spokesman said Sunday.

“Last night Iran fired over 300 ballistic missiles, UAVs and cruise missiles towards Israel,” military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told a televised statement, revising an earlier figure of more than 200 launches.

Hagari said 170 drones and 30 cruise missiles were launched, none of which entered Israeli territory, adding that 110 ballistic missiles were also fired and few of them reached Israel.

Iran Says Its Retaliation “Concluded”, Warns Israel Not To Respond

Iran on Sunday urged Israel not to retaliate militarily to an unprecedented attack overnight, which Tehran presented as a justified response to a strike that destroyed its consulate building in Damascus earlier this month.

“The matter can be deemed concluded,” Iran’s mission to the United Nations said in a post on X just a few hours after the start of the operation late Saturday.

“However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe,” the Iranian mission warned.
